CEM Team, January 22, 2025
The Sierra Club Grassroots Network Climate Emergency Mobilization (GN-CEM) Team invites Sierra Club Groups or Chapters to join our efforts to mobilize, expand, and accelerate local, regional, and national climate actions. None of us can escape the direct and indirect impacts of a destabilized climate, and – in the context of President Trump’s record of climate denial – the time for local action has never been more important.
The Grassroots Network Climate Emergency Mobilization Team
Our Team was formed in 2019 to build an emergency-level response to our climate crisis by mobilizing and supporting activists who are working to address the causes of our destabilized climate. We aim to stimulate and support diverse local movements seeking comprehensive, immediate, and sustained actions to reduce emissions of climate pollutants and/or sequester atmospheric carbon following
Sierra Club policies.
We embrace this global movement, which actually originates at the grassroots level, and invite you to join us.
Apply for a Community Climate Action Award
Sierra Club Groups or Chapters with local, climate related projects that can benefit from additional financial support are invited to apply for one of our Climate Action Awards. These awards of up to $1000 will be made to those Chapters or Groups that meet our criteria, and have ongoing or proposed projects that will be underway in 2025. The application process opens January 22, 2025 and will close on Friday May 9, 2025; we hope to evaluate applications and announce Award recipients by the end of May with award funds distributed in June. Awardees will be expected to provide a year-end report that emphasizes results achieved and lessons learned. To apply, please complete and submit the Qualifications and Application form.
Join our Team and Share Your Success Stories
The climate crisis is the global challenge of our time. We are all in this together and no one should face this challenge alone. We are powerful together and joining our voices is an important way for us to demonstrate our common commitment to transformative climate action. Regardless of your participation in our awards program, please identify someone in your Chapter or Group to serve as a liaison to our team. You’ll be able to learn about what other climate activists are doing, and bring that knowledge to
your local work. Sharing your success stories or hearing about “lessons learned” by other climate activists is as easy as subscribing to our digital newsletter, visiting our Grassroots Network CEM Team website, or joining the discussion on our listserv (GN-CEM-DISCUSSION).
